He-(c)ar-t Attack

I just about had a heart attack today morning.... I "luckily" found a parking spot today... Yesterday when I'd reached the University at this time (10.00 am) I had gone through three full parking lots, including the huge one in front of the Maverick's Activity Centre (MAC) and finally drove all the way to Cribbs Building to park my car.. (and had to walk all the way there at 9.00 pm to drive home).

... so anyway, I thought I was "lucky" to get the parking spot... So there I was happily going to my lab... just as I reached for my access card to open the door, I noticed that my car keys are not with me nor inside the handbag.... Immediately I turned heel and bolted (bag, handbag, umbrella, flapping jacket and all ) ... r..a..a..a..aan toward the end of the parking lot where the car is supposed to be...

On the way as I tumbled across the intersection, who should be calling out my name? Dr R! ..... asking... You are running (Duh!)... is everything ok? I said, No! I cant find my car keys... and he says, Do u want me to come? like yeah... my car will still be waiting... I mumbled a no thank you and ready to take off when he wants to inquire something about updating the website(!!!).... I just mumbled something and ran....

I had couple of cars start to follow me hoping that I am about to free a parking space... I bet they were zapped when I ran to my car and grabbed the keys off the trunk!.....

I just turned around and kept walking!

Target Shopping

I got to say this, I love shopping at Target! The place itself is all bright and sunny, and the prices are good and the deals are just great. I'd always had the impression that it was a high end shopping place, and though I had one right next to where I stay, I never ventured in there.
Well, lesson learned... had some of the most exciting shopping experiences here. This the place I first stated out with a file full of clipped coupons....

I have summarized my previous deals, along with today's haul.

Kroger Shopping

Had a money saving streak in Kroger a couple of times earlier, when I discovered the clearance bin at the back. Ever since, I head straight toward them as soon as I enter the place and check for anything worth stocking up on. I had gotten pretty decent deals like this..

I have summarized a few here from what I remember -

8 boxes of cascadian cereal @$1.25 each regular above $5.00
St. Ives, intensive nourishment @$2.50 regular about $10.00
Neutragena Sun Block @$3.00 regular at about $14.00
Packet of nuts and dried fruits @$1.50 regular at about $5.00
Eye shadow @$1.50 regular at about $8.00.

Anyway, I had never tried coupon savings in Kroger before, nor had I figured out any 'kroger strategy' so far. So today I wanted to try out a scenario with almost nothing out of pocket (OOP). It didnt quite turnout as I expected, but was a pretty good shopping run...

Trip : Oct. 10
---------------------------------------
8 healthy choice entree : $2.27 x 8 : $18.16
2 healthy choice entree : $1.96 x 2 : $ 3.92
1 chicken leg quarters @ 99c/lb : $3.42
-----------------------------------------
9 healthy choice MQ : -$2.00 x 9 : -$18
Kroger discount : -$5.00
------------------------------------------
Total : $25.50
Savings : $23.00
OOP : $2.50
------------------------------------------

Note to self: Kroger will not permit overage.

That is why they didnot take my 10th healthy choice coupon. The overage would have paid for my chicken leaving me with an OOP of only $.50! Now that would have been a..w..e..s..o..m..e!

CVS Shopping

My first foray into the world of CVS shopping..

DH came home one day, a couple of months back and got me hooked onto to these bloggers who bragged and gave tips on how to make these huge household purchases with as little as a couple of dollars out of pocket.

The biggest novelty was the CVS system with their Extra Cash Back (ECB) feature. Coupling this with coupons and sales, I was excited to begin this shop and save, or rather, shop but save. I am all about dreaming up scenarios in my head... but life happened and none of these plans were carried out. Finally, the grand initiator himself took an interest and we finally plunged in ...

The rest is .. history... or rather very exhilarating..

We started with an initial investment of $14 to get our ECBs started. Outlined below are our trips so far :
